’These are exciting times and McLarens has never been stronger,’ says managing director
McLarens has expanded its leadership team as it unveiled a new leadership structure in the UK and Ireland.
The claims services provider has formed a new senior management board, which it said would include “its foremost practitioners” from across operational and business management lines.
“The changes will strengthen McLarens’ leadership team, reflecting the growth and evolution of its UK and Ireland business, which has doubled in size since 2019,” a statement announcing the changes yesterday (11 April 2023) said.
As part of the move, Steven Wallace was promoted to the expanded role of managing director of McLarens EMEA, taking responsibility for the UK and Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
He told Insurance Times that he planned to provide “better outcomes for the markets” that the business works in.
“My agenda will be building on the success of the business in this territory today, but also understanding how [it] can better support our clients,” he said.
Wallace also explained that the business had expanded in the UK and Ireland due to the importance of the region to McLarens.
“The majority of what we manage around the globe is from capacity that sits within the London market,” he said.
‘Exciting times’
Other appointments within the senior management board included David Gillan taking control of UK loss adjusting operations, while Kieran Gallagher will take the reporting line from McLarens’ expanding adjacencies and emerging practices.

Meanwhile, Toby Knight was appointed to a new role of property practices director, while Neil Baldwin will take control of commercial development.
The new board also includes senior representation from finance, human resources and legal.
Alongside these changes, McLarens has brought in operational and business managers alongside practice heads and technical leads.
The changes resulted in 45 leadership positions within the UK and Ireland business.
McLaren’s said the new structure “reflected the expansion of McLarens’ UK and Ireland business”.
Wallace said: “We recognise that the prior exec team that has led the business for many years needs a broader, more diverse and more integrated skillset to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“The introduction of finance, HR and legal onto the board, alongside data and analytics and compliance will ensure these important functions are central to the business’s strategy. At the same time, our technical leaders remain at the core of our leadership.
”These are exciting times and McLarens has never been stronger.”
