’Their appointments reflect our deep commitment to providing clients with exceptional services,’ says chief executive
Marsh has bolstered its leadership team with two new c-suite appointments, a statement released today (24 October 2023) said.
The broker said that Beth Thurston had been promoted to chief executive of UK risk management, while Hema Mistry will become the top boss for Finpro, its UK financial and professional business.
Both appointees will be based in London and take up their role from 1 January 2024.
Mistry will report to Dominic Samengo-Turner, UK chief executive of Marsh Specialty, while Thurston will report to Nick Harris, chief executive of of retail.
“Beth and Hema are highly experienced and talented leaders who throughout their careers at Marsh have demonstrated their ability to deliver outstanding results for our clients,” Chris Lay, Marsh McLennan UK and Marsh UK boss, said.
”Their appointments reflect our deep commitment to providing clients with exceptional services and solutions to manage their risk and insurance programmes.”
Thurston
Marsh said its UK risk management client segment focused on “serving the needs of its largest and most complex clients”.

In her role as chief executive of the division, Thurston will take responsibility for the strategic management and implementation of services and solutions that support these clients.
She will succeed Ailsa King, who was announced as chief commercial officer of Marsh McLennan UK earlier this year (6 September 2023).
Thurston, who has been with the firm for 14 years, said she was ”looking forward to supporting UK risk management clients in navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead”.
”As the business landscape becomes increasingly volatile and uncertain, many UK companies are encountering more complex and rapidly evolving risks stemming from issues such as inflation, regulatory development and climate change,” she added.
“Building greater resilience to these risks should be a key boardroom priority.”
Mistry
Meanwhile, Mistry will be responsible for managing the management liability, financial services, professional indemnity, healthcare and specie practices in her new role.
She will return to the UK from San Francisco, where she was most recently the west zone Finpro leader for four years, to carry out her duties.
Mistry, who joined Marsh in 2010 as a management liability wholesale team leader in London, said: ”I am excited to return to the UK next year to lead the UK Finpro business.
”[I will] work with our talented team of colleagues to develop new solutions and create additional insurance capacity for our clients’ most challenging professional risks.”
