The new appointee ’will play a pivotal role in creating next-generation cyber solutions’, says chief executive
Insurance broker Marsh has appointed Kelly Butler as its new UK cyber leader, a statement released today (29 June 2023) has revealed.
The role will see Butler take responsibility for the strategic development and delivery of cyber insurance and placement capabilities.
She will also work closely with Marsh McLennan’s cyber risk experts to develop integrated risk and advisory services that support clients in managing cyber threats.
“While cyber risk and its associated threats are rightly a key boardroom concern, many organisations are still struggling to develop meaningful risk mitigation and insurance programmes that will protect their people and assets in the of a major cyber incident,” Butler said.
“I look forward to working with the UK team and our Marsh McLennan colleagues globally to help clients develop their cyber defences.”
’Outstanding leader’
Butler joined Marsh in 2016 and has held a variety of senior roles, such as a senior cyber advisor for Marsh’s largest clients.

She is currently based in Melbourne, where she is serving as chief client officer and cyber practice leader for the Pacific region.
Butler will take up her new role, which will be based in London, in October 2023 and report to Beth Thurston, UK financial and professional lines chief executive.
Thurston said: “Kelly is an outstanding leader who has spearheaded numerous market-leading initiatives in the Pacific region.
“As UK cyber leader, Kelly will play a pivotal role in creating the next-generation cyber solutions that Marsh’s clients need to mitigate rapidly-evolving cyber threats, while maximising the opportunities associated with new and emerging technologies.”
