’I look forward to leading our highly successful team,’ says appointee
Marsh has announced that Will Thomas-Ferrand will assume leadership of the broker’s captive insurance business.
Thomas-Ferrand, who currently serves as the international practice leader for captive solutions, will take up his new role on 1 January 2025.
His appointment comes due to Ellen Charnley, president of Marsh captive solutions, retiring at the end of 2024.
The two will work together over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.
When Thomas-Ferrand takes up his new role, he will be based in London and report to Pat Donnelly, president of specialty and global placement.
Donnelly said: “Thomas-Ferrand’s knowledge and experience in the captive sector across various geographies, in addition to his unwavering dedication in supporting our captive insurance clients, makes him the ideal person to lead Marsh’s captive business going forward.
“I want to personally thank Charnley for her tremendous leadership over the last seven years and wish her well in her retirement.
Experience
Thomas-Ferrand has spent the last 20 years at the broker and has held various roles of responsibility within Marsh’s captive business.

“I look forward to leading our highly successful team as we continue to champion captive insurance and alternative risk transfer solutions around the world.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
