It is part of the firm’s commitment to digital upskilling
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) announced today as part of its 2019 manifesto at the Houses of Parliament, that it will be launching a new dating agency to connect brokers with insurtechs.
The intermediary organization has yet to give it a name but aims to deliver the platform this year which will allow members to seek insurtech providers that are able to offer technological solutions and collaborate.
It follows the initial idea being thought up by the firm’s cross-industry innovation group after Biba’s chief executive Steve White highlighted the difficulty of brokers finding insurtechs to partner with at last year’s conference in his opening speech.
Vivek Banga, chair of the cross-industry innovation working group, said: “Digital and data related technology is rapidly evolving. Enabling brokers to actively engage with it is becoming a key part of servicing customers on the modern marketplace.”
And it is part of the firm’s commitment to digital upskilling and intentions to “identify partnership opportunities between insurtech and incumbent firms that sit outside of software vendor-type relations.”
It was originally discussed last year in May when the firm began designing the solution and is developed in partnership with the insurer Covéa with assistance from Broker Direct.
