It has also hired two new construction underwriters who have substantial experience in the industry
Ensurance – a London-based speciality lines MGA has opened its first office outside of London in Spinningfields Manchester with the intention of developing the regional UK broker market.
Tim James, Ensurance’s chief executive said that the new office marks an important next step for the MGA.
It will also see the hire of two new construction underwriters – senior construction underwriter Clark Gardiner who joins from Tokio Marine Kiln with 12 years’ of experience in the consruction sector. As well as construction underwriter Nick Lappin from Allianz joins him, with 14 years’ of experience in the construction industry.
Both new recruits start with immediate effect.
Building foundations
Launched in 2017, Ensurance is an independent and underwriting led with expertise in construction and terrorism sectors. It is wholly owned subsidiary of australian-based industry disruptor – Esurance ltd.
James explained that while “2019 was a year of challenges but ultimately success and growth” for the MGA.
“We start this year in excellent shape and are keen to build on the foundations we have laid, maintaining our focus on our core construction and terrorism portfolios, whilst being ready to pursue new, profitable specialty lines, if the opportunity and timing is right, he continued.
“In three years, we’ve progressed from day one with a small team working from a hotel lobby, to opening our second office with a total underwriting team of 16 supporting 8 lines of business.
”Manchester is well-known for its vibrant and established insurance market and was the obvious choice for us to access and better service the regional UK broker community and their clients.”
