’He has a deep connection with Lloyd’s, having worked in the London market for 12 years,’ says chairman
Lloyd’s has appointed Alexander Baugh as an independent nominated member of its council and audit committee.
Baugh, who has decades of industry experience, is also set to take up the role of chair of the Lloyd’s risk committee.
The appointee is an AIG veteran, with him having held leadership positions both in the US and internationally over the last 30 years.
His most recent role was as global chief underwriting officer for liability and financial lines, which he served as until 2022.
He currently serves as a consultant to the group.
Bruce Carnegie-Brown, chairman at Lloyd’s, said: “Baugh brings deep risk experience from his time at AIG, both as chief risk officer but also later in his career as global underwriting officer and chief executive for North America.
“He also has a deep connection with Lloyd’s, having worked in the London market for 12 years.
“He has maintained this connection through AIG’s two Lloyd’s syndicates through Ascot’s board when it was owned by AIG.”
Stepping down
His appointment comes due to Neil Maidment stepping down from the Lloyd’s Council at the end of January after nine years of service.
