’Customers of luxury cars and other luxury items are experiencing an increase in thefts due to organised criminal activity in the UK,’ says spokesperson
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has begun offering Range Rover clients bespoke insurance due to challenges owners may have with rising premiums.
In a statement released today (19 December 2023), JLR said customers of luxury cars were experiencing a rise of thefts in recent times, leading to problems in obtaining cover.
To help address this, JLR announced in November a £10m investment in vehicle security to help tackle keyless thefts.
And it will now begin offering a new proposition to Range Rover owners through Land Rover Insurance, which went live in October.
It means eligible clients will be able to obtain a quote online and manage their monthly rolling subscription and policy cover in a flexible way.
Repairs are also completed by a JLR authorised bodyshop, using only genuine parts.
“Customers of luxury cars and other luxury items are experiencing an increase in thefts due to organised criminal activity in the UK,” a JLR spokesperson said.
“The desirability of our luxury vehicles, coupled with concerns around thefts, has recently led to challenges in obtaining insurance cover for some clients.
“We are fully committed to doing everything we can to address this by adopting a multifaceted approach – from our significant investment in vehicle security, to now providing our own insurance.”

Since going live, the service has provided quotes to more than 4,000 clients, with an average monthly premium of less than £200.
Meanwhile, JLR said its investment in vehicle security, along with collaboration with police and partners, was reducing thefts.
It highlighted UK police data, which showed that since January 2022, only nine of the 12,200 new Range Rovers on the road have been stolen (0.07%), while only 13 of the 13,400 new Range Rover Sports have been affected (0.1%).
“While our new insurance proposition is a key milestone, we want to reassure clients that we will continue monitoring and refining our service so that even more clients can take advantage of it,” the JLR spokesperson said.
