’The launch of this important regional hub will enable us to work even more closely with our clients and broker partners,’ says chief executive
Insurer Sompo has opened a new office in Manchester as it looks to execute its commercial lines growth plans outside the London market.
The new office will be based in Hardman Street, Spinningfields, and will see the insurer work more closely with clients and broker partners in the north.
It is the latest office to be opened in the UK by the insurer, which also has locations in London and Birmingham.
Bob Thaker, chief executive of commercial P&C insurance at Sompo UK, said: “I am delighted we now have a base in Manchester.
“The launch of this important regional hub will enable us to work even more closely with our clients and broker partners in the north of the UK as we continue to execute our UK commercial lines growth plans outside the London market.”

“His experience, acumen and understanding of the market, combined with outstanding leadership skills, will help us drive momentum across Sompo’s business in the UK and support our ambitions for continued profitable growth,” Thaker said.
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
