’Our new proposition expands the offering we currently provide in London,’ says chief executive
Insurer Sompo has launched a new national marine insurance proposition for the UK.
The move means marine cargo, as well as transport and logistics policies, can now be written in London and nationally for the first time by the firm.
Marine cargo provides coverage on an all-risks basis, removing institute cargo clauses, while transport and logistics policies include cover for freight liability, employers liability, public, products and pollution liability and property.
Both propositions are aimed at brokers and clients throughout the UK.
Adapting business model
Bob Thaker, chief executive of UK commercial P&C insurance at Sompo, said the insurer was ”constantly looking at ways to adapt our business model”.

He added: ”By increasing capacity and establishing an outstanding team of regionally-based underwriters, our new proposition expands the offering we currently provide in London, so we can now also cater for growing regional demand to write directly marine cargo and transport and logistics policies.
”Both have been developed to be as simple as possible and are underwritten by our highly experienced team of marine specialists to eliminate uncertainty and ensure peace of mind for our clients.”
