Natacha Craven, chief human resources officer at Miller, talks about the company’s submission for the Diversity and Inclusion Excellence award
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the Diversity and Inclusion Excellence category?
We are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve achieved to foster a more diverse and inclusive culture at Miller and to encourage change across the industry.
We are pleased to have achieved our 2025 target of 30% of women in senior leadership in our UK business, but there is much more work to be done and we know that targets only tell a part of the story.
One of our priorities is to ensure that culture is a valued discussion point throughout our organisation and we believe that awards like this are instrumental in facilitating that discourse throughout the industry.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
Financial services and technology are two industries that have both historically fallen behind on diversity and inclusion. As Miller builds out its technology capabilities, we believe that we are uniquely well positioned among our peers to affect change in both sectors.
Through Miller’s in-house innovation incubator – MillerLabs – where diversity and inclusion initiatives and partnerships have been integrated since launch, we have welcomed new employees from a range of industries, expanding the traditional pathways into the sector while benefitting from a wider range of voices and experiences that are helping to drive positive change.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning this award would be a huge recognition, not only of our own progress towards diversity and inclusion at Miller, but also of the importance of the tremendous work being done by the organisations with which we have partnered in these endeavours.
One such partnership is with Code First Girls, sponsoring young women to help them obtain a technology-based degree and offering a full-time position at Miller upon completion.
In recognising Miller’s achievements, this award would be a testament to the combined importance of both individual business conviction and collective industry commitment when it comes to driving real change on D&I.
