Suzie Norman, head of HR for the UK and Ireland at Crawford, talks about the company’s entry for the Diversity and Inclusion Excellence award

1. Why did you put yourself forward for the Diversity and Inclusion Excellence category?

We entered this category to highlight the considerable advances we’ve made in embedding our DEI strategy – not only to build a great place to work at Crawford, but also to make a meaningful impact across our sector.

From breaking ground with the sector’s first ever Diversity Council, we have continued to pioneer initiatives that promote greater social mobility – levelling the playing field by opening up opportunities and enhancing diversity across all levels of our leadership.

As a result, DEI has become a critical part of our DNA, encouraging a positive workplace culture that we take great pride in. We believe that our commitment to these values sets the standard for our industry.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Our entry stands out due to the transformative results we’ve achieved with our constantly evolving DEI strategy.

Over the past year, we’ve redefined our approach to talent management, implementing targeted initiatives aimed at attracting diverse talent, enhancing retention and enhancing equity at every level of Crawford.

Alongside this, our Diversity Council is creating a vibrant workplace where everyone feels comfortable to have a voice. Not only are these groups a great forum for encouragement and support – they are also driving real, tangible changes within our company.

3. What would winning mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would recognise Crawford’s unwavering commitment to building an inclusive workforce and celebrate the hard work our teams put in to achieving our current success. It’s a great way to recognise the countless hours, innovative ideas and collaborative efforts that have gone into building a workplace where every individual feels valued and empowered.

Most importantly, it would inspire us to continue pushing boundaries in our sector. By sharing our journey and achievements, we hope to inspire a broader movement in our industry – one where all voices can be heard and celebrated.
