Mark Merrix, head of casualty claims at Allianz, discusses the company’s entry for the Excellence in Claims Technology – Insurer award
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the Excellence in Claims Technology – Insurer category?
You can develop the best technology in the world, but it’s useless if you don’t have strong teams behind it with the right skills to properly leverage it.
By creating new cutting-edge technologies and combining them with leading training and mentoring programmes simultaneously, we’ve achieved a collaborative model that significantly reduces lifecycles to allow our people to contribute their expertise where it matters most – supporting our customers to get back to normal.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
We’re settling more claims, receiving less complaints and getting our customers’ businesses back up and running more quickly.
Our in-house machine learning models for predicting settlement value and choosing the most appropriate investigation route are industry-firsts.
We’re proud that our technology solution has been developed by our people, using scrum agile delivery and building on unique expertise from the Allianz Group.
Our initiatives are having a marked impact on lifecycles and claims costs – benefitting our customers – and helping to empower our people.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Given that these initiatives have been built from the ground up by the people using them, winning this award would be well-deserved recognition for a job incredibly well done.
It would help us to demonstrate the value of continued innovation, and how this helps us to achieve our purpose of securing the future for our customers.
