Andy Moody, founder and managing director of GoShorty, discusses the business’ entry to Personal Lines Broker of the Year
Why did you put yourselves forward for the Personal Lines Broker of the Year award?
Traditional annual motor insurance has existed broadly without any innovation for decades, but consumer behaviour is changing rapidly.
Less people are owning cars, we’ve seen the rise of homeworking and the gig economy, plus financial pressures on us all means that borrowing a vehicle makes complete sense where you don’t need one 100% of the time.
GoShorty is here to help people to get to where they need to, affordably, legally and safely, democratising mobility for all and we entered this award to shout about the difference that we’re making to both drivers and the industry.
What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
We’ve got a unique story to tell that is about benefits to insurers as much as benefits to consumers.
Our obsession with data, and using it in everything that we do, means that our insurer partners are able to make razor-sharp pricing and acceptance decisions and see better loss ratios than ever before and that ultimately delivers a better proposition to our customers all over the UK.
Our entry examines this in detail, and – we hope – demonstrates why GoShorty should win Personal Lines Broker of the Year.
What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
From an idea around a kitchen table to hundreds of thousands of people a year getting to where they need to be with our help, our story is one of ambition, resilience, drive and most of all, a passion to make a difference, for both the industry and for the UK population.
We believe that we’ve got a special business like no other and winning this award would be incredible industry endorsement of this.
For me personally, seeing my idea from years ago leading to this point represents validation of the hard work we’ve all done to get us here.
