For the first day of advent, Nick Houghton, chief executive at JMG Group, talks industry achievements and future opportunities
Every day for the festive period continuing until Christmas Eve, Insurance Times speaks to a selection of industry personalities about what they’d like to find under the tree.
1. What was your insurance industry highlight of 2024?
We’ve achieved lots this year to be proud of. I’m particularly proud of our continued growth and, as part of that, the opportunities it creates for the team.
We launched our JMG Drive Academy and recruited our first cohort of bright young talent from across the UK. We’ve also seen a good number of our loyal team develop their careers by taking on new roles, including running P&Ls for the group. Quality growth creates so many opportunities for colleagues old and new. It makes me proud.
2. What is your Christmas message for your insurance colleagues? In the words of the late great Tina Turner – “we are just getting going”.
And that’s how I feel. There are so many opportunities out there and I’ve no ambition to slow down, so let’s keep going and make the most of them and, of course, continue to have fun along the way.
3. What do you hope to find under the industry’s Christmas tree for 2025?
I’d love to find lots of talented people looking to make their next career step with a dynamic, opportunity stuffed group – say, like JMG Group.
Along with an abundance of great brokers, thinking about their next chapter and looking to entrust their clients and colleagues with an acquirer with a great track record of doing what they say they are going to do – say, like JMG Group. The phone is always on…
