’Her expertise will add great strength to the board of LMG,’ says chair
The London Market Group (LMG) has appointed Howden Specialty’s chief executive Sarah Hughes to its board.
The move will see Hughes act as a representative for the London and International Insurance Brokers Association (LIIBA).
Sean McGovern, chair of LMG, said the group had appointed her as she would bring ”a wealth of industry experience”.
Hughes added that she was ”excited” to join the team.
“As businesses face an unprecedented level of risk beyond their physical assets and services, there has never been a more important time for the insurance industry to prove its importance as an enabler of change,” she said.
”Geo-political, climate, cyber and reputational risks all pose real challenges, but also represent an opportunity for the London market, which has always been a home for innovation, to demonstrate the critical role it can play in developing innovative solutions to solve the big issues impacting business and society.
“It’s what makes London the world leading global insurance market.”
Experience
Hughes was appointed chief executive of Howden Specialty in October 2023 after joining as its financial global practice leader in February 2020.

“Sarah brings a wealth of industry experience gained at several of the largest businesses in the broker marketplace,” McGovern said.
”Her expertise will add great strength to the board of LMG as it continues to advocate for the insurance market in a busy election year.”
