’Her contribution to the business has been substantial,’ says chief distribution officer
Hiscox has revealed that Nicola Holmes will be leaving the insurer for a new role at an unnamed broker.
Holmes has spent the last 18 years at Hiscox, with her having joined the firm in 2007 as a scheme analyst.
She went onto hold a range of roles with the insurer, including schemes manager, networks strategic accounts manager and branch manager for Colchester.
Most recently, she was the head of broker for the art and private client division.
Gareth Hemming, chief distribution officer at Hiscox UK, said Holmes had decided to leave after taking “the decision to pursue a long-standing ambition to work for a broker”.
“Her contribution to the business has been substantial, heading up a number of high performing teams and most recently leading our broker HNW business to record breaking growth,” he said.
“Whilst Holmes has been head of the broker HNW division, Hiscox has seen the launch of the Acturis 606 product and the implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI)-led new business automation tool.”
Successor
With Holmes leaving, broker sales director James Stewart-Smith will look after new business and renewal leads in the interim.

An internal and external search for a successor is currently underway to replace Holmes on a permanent basis.
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
