The candidate has been promoted from an interim role to a permanent position

Specialist global insurer Hiscox has appointed Louise Marling as its new chief operating officer for Hiscox UK.

Marling originally joined the firm on an interim basis in December 2019 as interim change director. In this role, she supported a number of change and IT projects – this included moving the UK business to a remote working model in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to her tenure at Hiscox, Marling worked as chief operating officer at global health insurance provider William Russell. She has also worked for Aviva, in both the UK and US.

In her new position, however, Marling will focus on continuing to build Hiscox’s customer-centric culture, as well as look for opportunities to improve the customer experience through streamlining and automating processes.

Based in Colchester, Marling will report to Bob Thaker, chief executive of Hiscox UK.

Speaking on the appointment, Thaker said: “It’s great to have Louise on board permanently – her operational expertise and wealth of industry experience make her an excellent addition to our senior team.

“Over the past few months Louise has successfully led us through some challenging and complex change projects, making invaluable contributions in a short time, so her expertise will be well placed as we continue to evolve the business for growth.”
