Hiscox has appointed Stewart Walker as its new broker development director for the UK.
In his new role, Walker will focus on broker distribution, relationship management, new business development and broker propositions.
He officially joined the business in January 2025, a statement released today (20 February 2025) said.
Walker said: “Hiscox is an excellent business with ambitious plans to grow and I’m extremely excited to be a part of that journey.
“Our ability to find solutions for brokers and customers through schemes, open market and digital across numerous industry sectors and products will be key to our success.”
Experience
Walker brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role, having worked at both insurers and brokers during his career.

He joins from Marsh, where he has spent the last six years head of insurer consulting, markets and insurer relationships.
Prior to this, he held a number of positions at Zurich over 18 years, including UK head of sales, head of UK construction and head of region.
In his new role, he reports to Hiscox UK’s chief distribution officer Gareth Hemming.
“Walker will lead our strategic account management function, which supports our key trading partners,” Hemming said.
“He will also establish a new team of account managers to accelerate our most significant new business opportunities. This is an exciting position in an evolving part of our distribution business and directly supports our strategy for growth.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
