’He will bring fresh thinking to our business at a time when service and operational excellence is at the core of our growth strategy,’ says chief executive
HDI Global has appointed Geoff Godwin as its new chief operating officer for the UK and Ireland.
Godwin, who brings 32 years of experience, joins from AIG, where he held the same role for the last 10 years.
The position saw him take responsibility for UK operations, the customer contact centre, underwriting operations, customer complaints and conduct, as well as product development oversight.
Before AIG, he spent 10 years working as a claims manager at Travelers.
In his new role, Godwin will report to Stephanie Ogden, chief executive at HDI Global UK and Ireland.
“Godwin will bring fresh thinking to our business at a time when service and operational excellence is at the core of our growth strategy,” Ogden said.
“I am confident that alongside the rest of our executive team, Godwin and our whole operations function will deliver great things in 2025 and beyond.”
New team
Following Ogden’s appointment as chief executive in June 2024, a new c-suite team at HDI was announced a few months later.

HDI said that this latest appointment completes its executive team.
Ogden said: “My ambition has always been to secure a strong, diverse executive team to help lead our UK and Ireland business and in the short time since I became chief executive, I am thrilled that we have delivered just that.”
Godwin added: “I am delighted to be joining HDI at this exciting time as the firm continues to drive its growth plans across UK and Ireland.
“The operations teams across HDI are energetic and eager to work alongside the wider business functions and this collaborative approach will be key to our ongoing success.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
