The newly created role demonstrates the broker’s ambition to strengthen its market position in this line of business
Marsh McLennan-owned global risk and reinsurance business Guy Carpenter and Company has appointed former Swiss Re director Anthony Cordonnier as its new managing director and global co-head of cyber, effective from the second half of 2021.
Cordonnier joins the broker from reinsurer Swiss Re, where he was most recently director and head of the company’s reinsurance cyber centre. Here, he was responsible for building its portfolio and overseeing its global underwriting activities.
He is also currently the chair of the International Underwriting Association’s Cyber Reinsurance Committee.
Cordonnier will be working alongside Erica Davis, who has been promoted to global co-head of cyber, effective immediately.
Davis, who joined the broker in 2018, has more than 20 years of experience in the cyber (re)insurance market.
She most recently worked as the firm’s managing director and leader of its North America Cyber Centre of Excellence, which is a dedicated team of cyber brokers, product innovators and analytics experts.
In these newly created roles, the pair will co-lead lead Guy Carpenter’s cyber team, aiming to better utilise its global footprint, analytical capabilities and sector knowledge to offer current and prospective clients more efficient and effective placement strategies.
Guy Carpenter hopes to strengthen its market position within this line of business.
A global, unified team
Based in London, Cordonnier will report to James Boyce, chief executive of global specialties at Guy Carpenter. Meanwhile, New York-based Davis will report to Will Garland, president, Centers of Excellence, North America, Guy Carpenter.
Commenting on the appointments, Boyce said: “At Guy Carpenter, we have built our reputation in the cyber arena on our ability to develop solutions for our clients that combine the breadth of expertise within our team, the technology that we bring and the depth of analytical insight that we offer.
