He has significant experience in bus and coach insurance

Commercial insurance broker Gauntlet Group has appointed Wrightsure’s former associate director, Mark Monk, to lead its new Essex based office.

The establishment of a southern office is a “key milestone” for the broker.

He was appointed to director at Gauntlet Hallmark in November and will now assume the role of appointed representative of Gauntlet Group.

The firm hopes to replicate the broking service that its Leeds office provides.

Through this move the Leeds based broker has strengthened its presence in bus and coach insurance.

And it will provide Gauntlet’s southern-based clients with a face-to-face service and tailored approach to their insurance needs.

New recruit

Monk has an expertise in bus and coach insurance and has already begun to manage the risks of some of Gauntlet’s clients in the south.

Monk has three decades of experience in the sector including four years at Wrightsure as associate director and general manager for over 15 years.

He has worked with large accounts, having handled a portfolio of clients and a book of business worth £1.3m as well as all key areas of bus and coach insurance at associate director level.

And he added: “This is an exciting career move and I am relishing the responsibility of introducing Gauntlet’s brand and impressive broking capacity to new bus and coach operators in the south, whilst also being part of an AR network that performs at the highest level and which delivers on its promises, hence the name Gauntlet Hallmark.

“I relish the fact that Gauntlet sets the bar so high and has no time for complacency or less-than-exceptional service delivery from its team. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? Being part of the group’s impressive brand growth, in such a pivotal position, was simply an irresistible proposition.”

2019

Roger Gaunt, managing director of the Gauntlet Group said: “With our shared insight into the market and dedication to doing the best for all passenger transport clients, bus and coach operators could not be in better hands.”

He added that the firm expects to see its southern-based bus and coach team grow to around three people by the end of 2019, with other types of risk also being managed from our southern office and that this will be “a major development” in its anniversary year.

Gauntlet will celebrate its 25th anniversary in October next year.
