The rebrand aims to create ‘a springboard for further growth within the property sector’, says managing director
Broker Gallagher is set to rebrand its specialist residential property broking business, effective from 5 December 2022
The broker’s specialist residential property arm has been operating under the name Deacon since it was initially bought by Gallagher from Barbon Insurance Group in May 2013. The business was originally called Property and Commercial Limited.
Deacon, which currently employs 50 insurance professionals, will rebrand to Gallagher next week.
Utilising a ‘well established’ brand
Deacon was originally established in 1989.
It specialises in buildings insurance for residential blocks of flats and buy to let properties, covering everything from two flats built in a converted house to more than 200 apartments in a purpose built block, including estates and listed buildings, standard and non-standard construction.

It currently provides cover for properties worth over £15bn across the UK.
Commenting on the rebrand, James Collins, managing director of Deacon, said: “Deacon has been part of Gallagher for almost 10 years and having our team operating under the Gallagher brand will give us a springboard for further growth within the property sector.
“Clients can be reassured that our existing team remains in place and they will continue to receive the same high quality service from the individuals they know, that understand their insurance needs and who will continue to provide the same levels of commitment and service across underwriting, claims, operations and account management.
“Clients will continue to have the same day-to-day contacts at the firm, who understand their individual insurance requirements, but [they] will benefit from trading under the Gallagher brand, which is well established globally and in the UK.”
