’These appointments enhance my leadership team and give us a springboard for further profitable growth,’ says managing director
Broker Gallagher has announced three leadership appointments within its UK and Ireland retail division.
Among the hires is Mark Kerry, who steps into the role of regional managing director for Scotland and Northern Ireland. He will oversee Gallagher’s teams in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Aberdeen and the Isle of Skye.
James Fletcher, meanwhile, has been named regional managing director for the north west. He will be responsible for leading Gallagher’s offices in Manchester, Sale and Liverpool.
And James Murray has taken on the position of regional managing director for the north east and will lead Gallagher’s teams in Newcastle, Leeds, Stockton on Tees, Wakefield and Sheffield.
All three appointees will report to Peter Matthews, managing director of the north for Gallagher’s UK and Ireland retail division.
Matthews said: “Our business in the north has seen strong organic growth over recent years and these appointments enhance my leadership team and give us a springboard for further profitable growth – both organic and through acquisitions.
“These new appointments build on the success in the north and give us headroom for growth in every sector across the region as we continue to strengthen our strategic corporate proposition and invest and expand our specialisms as the largest general insurance broker in the UK.”
Experience
Kerry joined Gallagher as branch director in 2002 and most recently led the company’s Glasgow office.

And Murray joined the broker in 2019, leading Gallagher’s operations in Leeds.
Matthews said: ”I am particularly pleased that we have filled these key roles with existing members of the Gallagher team, demonstrating the strong talent we have in the business and our commitment to career development.”
