New data from the Financial Ombudsman Service reveals which insurers consumers are complaining about the most
Direct Line Group (DLG) was the most complained about insurance company over the second half of 2019, according to the latest data from the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
The FOS received a total of 1,092 general insurance related complaints about DLG over the last six months of 2019, making the insurer the only general insurance company to receive more than 1,000 complaints.
The second most complained about insurer was Aviva, which received 913 complaints, with AXA rounding off the top three with 884 complaints (see below).
Of these top 10 most complained about insurers, Lloyd’s Bank had the highest number of complaints referred to the ombudsman, upheld in favour of the customer (40.1%), closely followed by RSA (40%) and AXA (33%).
On the whole, the FOS received a total of 12,335 complaints relating to general insurance products over the course of the second half of 2019, down 29% on the 17,268 complaints received over the same period of 2018.
