’The company has made impressive strides in recent years and I’m eager to build on the great work already in place,’ says appointee

Markerstudy’s former chief operating officer Dan Fiehn has returned to the group as its new group chief technology officer.

Fiehn, who previously spent 10 years with the firm, will be responsible for overseeing the technology and data teams in his new role.

He announced his return to the firm in a post on Linkedin. According to his profile, he took up his new position at the start of February.

“I’m delighted to announce that I have returned to Markerstudy as group chief technology officer at a time of incredible momentum,” Fiehn said.

“The company has made impressive strides in recent years and I’m eager to build on the great work already in place.

“My focus? Bringing our technology and data teams together into a single, high-performing powerhouse – one that sets new benchmarks for innovation and efficiency in our industry.”

Experience

Fiehn first joined Markerstudy in 2011 as its chief information officer. He was promoted to chief operating officer in 2018.

He left in 2021 to be the chief operating officer at Incited, a role he held for just over a year.

He rejoins Markerstudy from Compre Group, where he was most recently chief operating officer.

“After three years away, tackling strategic IT challenges across the insurance sector, I’m ready to bring fresh thinking to [Markerstudy’s] transformation – reimagining, simplifying and strengthening our foundations for the future,” Fiehn said.

“Exciting times ahead. Watch this space.”

Other moves

His appointment comes following Markerstudy’s merger with Atlanta, the former broking business of Ardonagh.

Ian Donaldson, who had been chief executive at Ardonagh Retail, joined Markerstudy as part of the move, with him becoming chief executive of distribution.

In January 2025, it was announced Donaldson would return to Ardonagh in a new role focused on building out the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities across its global platforms.

Craig Ball, who joined Markerstudy as chief commercial officer for distribution through the merger, will also return to Ardonagh in a similar role.

Markerstudy chief executive Kevin Spencer said: “The Atlanta integration programme into Markerstudy Distribution and resulting synergies are well ahead of plan, enabling Donaldson and Ball to now accept new roles with Ardonagh.”
