’Our aim is to help ensure wider understanding of the BBB scheme,’ says head of communications and stakeholder relations

Flood Re has partnered with Biba to boost brokers’ understanding of the Build Back Better (BBB) scheme.

The move will see Flood Re representatives join Biba’s executive team on a UK tour to engage with brokers.

The tour will visit Duxford, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Leeds, Holywood and Northern Ireland.

Attendees will learn about the role of property flood resilience both inside and outside the home, as well as future plans for BBB.

The scheme was launched in April 2022 and offers policyholders the opportunity to install property flood resilience measures up to the value of £10,000 when repairing their properties after a flood.

Kelly Ostler-Coyle, head of communications and stakeholder relations at Flood Re, said: “We joined Biba as an insurer partner at the end of last year and are now really looking forward to developing that relationship and talking to brokers face-to-face in the regions.

”Our aim is to help ensure wider understanding of the BBB scheme and the role of property flood resilience amongst the broking community, which plays a crucial role when it comes to communication with customers.

“We know that education around property flood resilience is critical for the success of the BBB scheme and that it has a major role to play in helping improve resilience to future flooding.

“The regional tour will also enable us to garner feedback from the broking market that we can build into future education and communication initiatives.”

Biba

Graeme Trudgill, chief executive at Biba, noted that “building flood resilience in the UK is a key Biba Manifesto commitment”.

The manifesto, entitled Managing risk for growth and economic security, stated that “flood risk, along with other climate-driven risks, is increasing”.

Trudgill said: “We are really pleased that Flood Re will join us and help keep brokers informed about BBB.

”It’s fantastic that they want to take the time to meet our members face-to-face and show how Flood Re can help them provide better outcomes for customers in areas at risk of flooding.”
