Two industry experts will discuss how both human and virtual interaction in the insurance industry is needed and question whether the future is indeed bionic

What is bionic insurance and is it the future of the industry? This is the question two speakers will be answering at tomorrow’s (16 June 2022) Insurance2025 conference at etc Venues St Pauls

Bionic insurance – like the bionic man who has some limbs and his left eye replaced with technological implants – combines the human and technological aspect of insurance.

Traditionally brokers and agents have relied on face-to-face meetings with customer to complete business applications, disclosures, and policies, but the Covid-19 pandemic shifted this completely.

With the increase in digital services in all facets of life, customers are demanding a more digital experience from the insurance industry.

But despite this, there is still a need for a human touch.

From face-to-face to virtual

In a joint presentation entitled Bionic Insurance: Combining in-Person and Digital Interactions, Phillip Wood, senior solutions expert at OneSpan and David Allsopp, director of insurance and wealth management at OneSpan, will discuss what the future might look like for brokers and agents.

OneSpan is a publicly traded cyber security firm based in Chicago.

Allsopp will discuss changes over the course of the pandemic and how businesses can take advantage of new technology via virtual interactions.

Wood told Insurance Times: “What has come to light in our business is that as more firms close and brokers go online, what we found with our customer base is that they can interact in a secure way when there the opportunity and relevance.”

An example of this is OneSpan’s virtual room.
