The appointment is a ‘real coup’ for the business as it looks to boost growth
Ataraxia Broking Limited has scooped former Open GI director Simon Hughes as its new non-executive director.
Ataraxia makes minority investments into UK based insurance brokers, typically between 20% and 49%, while working closely with the community to support both growth and succession plans.
Hughes brings 32 years of experience in the IT and technology sector to the team, 18 of which were spent directing insurance software provider Open GI.
At Open GI, Hughes was chief operating officer and executive board member – he was responsible for software development and delivery, as well as customer services and technical operations. Prior to this, he was sales director for 10 years.
Cross-functional change
In his new role, Hughes will use his experience of strategic leadership to keep the management team on track. He also aims to scale for growth while mentoring cross-functional change.
Ataraxia chief executive David Clapp said he is “thrilled” about the appointment as he feels it is a “real coup” for the company.
He continued: “[Hughes] is a high calibre individual and brings a vast wealth of experience in the insurance sector, which will benefit our management team and all our broker partners too.
“There is no doubt in my mind that Simon can help our brokers, and in turn Ataraxia, grow at a faster rate than the market average which is great news for our current and future broker partners.
“I can’t wait to welcome him to our team and introduce him to our brokers.”
