Hiscox has appointed Phil Withey as the new chief technology officer for its London market division.
In his new role, Withey will be based in London and take responsiblity for shaping the insurer’s London market technology strategy.
He will also run the trading systems and oversee investment in data, digital and artificial intelligence (AI).
“I am delighted to be joining Hiscox at such an exciting time and to playing my part in realising its ambitious plans,” Withey said.
”Hiscox London market has led the way with innovations such as its generative AI-enhanced lead underwriting model, so I’m really looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place as we continue to explore how technology can transform the development of our products and the delivery of services.”
Experience
Withey has spent the last 10 years at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), where he most recently led the architecture function for the LSEG and Microsoft partnership.

Prior to LSEG, he held roles with Barclays Capital and Threadneedle Investments.
Withey will take up his new position in June and report to Hiscox chief information Chris Loake and Hiscox London market chief executive Kate Markham.
