’This marks a pivotal moment in our evolution’, says managing director
Moonrock Drone Insurance has received FCA approval to become an authorised insurance intermediary.
The MGA had been an appointed representative of broker Aston Lark, but the move means Moonrock Drone Insurance can now trade independently.
When a firm becomes FCA approved, their information appears on the financial services register.
This is a public record that holds all the details of companies, individuals and other bodies that are or have previously been regulated by the FCA.
In a LinkedIn post yesterday (27 July 2023), the MGA’s managing director Simon Ritterband said the FCA had approved an application for IFR Drones Limited trading as Moonrock Drone Insurance to become an independently authorised insurance intermediary.
“This achievement marks a pivotal moment in our evolution, as we separate from our current principal, Aston Lark Limited, and stand tall as an FCA-approved entity,” he said.
’Heartfelt thanks’
Ritterband also said Moonrock Drone Insurance would be pushing into the insurance broker market following the move.

He added that ”none of this would have been possible without the unwavering dedication and hard work of our exceptional team over the past 12 months”.
“A heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you,” he said.
”These are incredibly exciting times at Moonrock, as we now look to propel into new markets and territories around the globe and continue to push boundaries and redefine the drone insurance industry.”
