The appointee ’is uniquely qualified to optimise our internal processes’, says chief operations officer

Davies has today appointed Paul O’Brien as its first group chief artificial intelligence (AI) officer.

In his new role, O’Brien will be responsible for advancing the use of AI across the organisation and developing a strategy for the ethical use of generative AI.

He currently serves as chief technology officer (CTO) at Davies Global Solutions and will continue in this position alongside his new one.

O’Brien will report to Mark Grocott, chief executive at Davies Global Solutions, and chief operations officer Jen Morrissey.

His appointment comes as Davies looks to create more AI-related opportunities across the business.

Morrissey said: “In a time where GenAI is rapidly reshaping business landscapes, Davies is proactively positioning itself at the forefront by appointing O’Brien to this critical role.”

Expanding capabilities

As CTO, O’Brien is responsible for supporting a portfolio of technology products and assessing emerging technologies to drive the global technology strategy.

O’Brien said: “At Davies, we have a rich history of delivering exceptional service to our clients through deep expertise in our respective fields and technological innovation.

“As chief AI and technology officer, I look forward to collaborating across the business to build on our existing AI capabilities and support our teams in leveraging rapidly evolving technologies.”

Davies’ investment in AI propositions includes Lauri, which is a portfolio of claims technology used for reducing the processing time of personal injury and credit hire claims.

Morrissey said: ”With a profound understanding of AI and its dynamic applications, O’Brien is uniquely qualified to optimise our internal processes and harness the power of AI to provide our clients with superior services.”
