’I want to thank all my past and present colleagues who have shared their journeys with me over the years,’ says chief client officer
Crawford and Company’s Benedict Burke has announced he will retire later this year.
Burke joined the claims management firm back in 2008 and held a range of senior roles over the last 15 years.
This includes chief executive of the UK and Ireland, as well as head of global markets.
He currently holds the position of chief client officer for global client development, which he took up in April 2016.
In a LinkedIn post, Burke said he would retire on 30 June 2024.
“I want to thank all my past and present colleagues who have shared their journeys with me over the years,” he added.
“You have had an impact on me and shaped the way I see things and I hope I may have also offered some value to you.
“I am grateful to Crawford and Company for the opportunities they have presented me, to grow and contribute.”
CILA
During his time at Crawford and Company, Burke also served as president of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA).

He held the role for a year, with him stepping aside in August 2016.
“I have been similarly honoured to have served as president of the CILA, a highlight being that during my tenure we changed our Royal Charter to include a future commitment to greater diversity and inclusivity,” Burke said.
He also said he had fond memories of being appointed by the Chartered Insurance Institute to the think tank that created the Aldermanbury Declaration on professional quality in insurance.
“I look forward to a period of new adventures and opportunities (both personally and maybe professionally) that will lie ahead,” Burke said.
“I have done my best and as the saying goes, ‘I am not retiring from life’.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
