’As we continue to expand and evolve, his leadership will be instrumental in driving our growth strategy forward,’ says chief executive
Midlands-based Cowens Group has appointed Mark Wilson as the new managing director for its general insurance division.
Wilson, who has been with the insurance broker for 12 years, had worked as an associate director before being appointed to the board of directors in 2022.
He said he was “extremely proud” to be taking up his new role as managing director.
“The group, as a whole, has an exciting vision for the future and this coupled with our strong values, collaborative approach and the solid reputation Cowens already enjoys within the industry, provides a strong foundation for growth and success,” Wilson added.
Stepping back
The move comes as Cowens chief executive Paul Chaplin steps back from the day to day running of the business to concentrate on his clients and the strategic focus of the business.

“Mark’s extensive experience and commitment to Cowens makes him the perfect choice to spearhead our corporate, commercial and private clients insurance division services,” Chaplin said.
“As we continue to expand and evolve, Mark’s leadership will be instrumental in driving our growth strategy forward.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
