It is unclear if he has been given a formal offer
Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) chief executive Alan Vallance is reportedly a contender to become the new top boss of the body that represents accountants across England and Wales.
Sky News reported yesterday (19 October 2023) that the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) was close to naming a successor to Michael Izza, who has led the organisation since 2006.
In the report, it claimed that Vallance had been identified as a “frontrunner” to become the institue’s new chief executive.
However, the news outlet said it was unclear if he had been given a formal offer or accepted the post.
Experience
Vallance was appointed as the CII’s new chief executive in April 2022.

Prior to this, he was the chief executive of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the group chief operating officer at the Law Society.
However, because he has only been in charge of the CII for 18 months, a source told Sky News that this could cast doubt on whether he would jump ship to the ICAEW.
Sky News said a ICAEW spokesman declined to comment on the report, while the CII did not respond to an enquiry.
Insurance Times has contacted the CII for comment.
