’The time is right for me to move to my next professional stage in life,’ says chief executive

Britannia Group chief executive Andrew Cutler is set to step down from his position with the firm at the end of the year.

The P&I insurer said that Cutler had informed the board of his intention to resign from the group on 31 December 2025.

His decision comes after nearly 20 years with the firm, having joined in 2006 as a senior claim handler.

He was appointed as chief executive in 2012 and oversaw the insurer’s expansion across Europe and Asia during his tenure.

Britannia Group chair Egied Verbeeck said: “Cutler has made a huge contribution to Britannia Group for which we thank him.

“Under his leadership, Britannia Group has grown from strength to strength, as well as having safely navigated numerous challenges.”

Cutler added: “After nearly two decades of dedicated service to Britannia Group and its members, the time is right for me to move to my next professional stage in life, where I will pursue a portfolio of non-executive roles.

“It has been a great honour to be the chief executive at Britannia Group since 2012.”

Successor

Cutler will be succeeded by Mike Hall, Britannia Group’s current deputy chief executive.

Hall joined in 2008 as an underwriter and later held the role of chief underwriting officer from 2014 to 2022, when he took up his current position.

Verbeeck said: “Britannia Group’s boards were delighted to appoint Hall as Cutler’s successor and look forward to working with him and the rest of the Britannia management team.”
