’This strategic realignment positions us for the next critical stage of growth,’ says statement

Andy Holmes has been appointed as CFC’s new group capacity director as part of a restructure.

Holmes was most recently the chief executive for CFC Underwriting, a role he took up in January 2024 after serving as chief underwriting officer for 21 years.

Now that he has move into a new role, his former responsibilities have been merged with those of group chief executive Louise O’Shea.

”This strategic realignment positions us for the next critical stage of growth,” CFC told Insurance Times.

The firm added that Holmes will be responsible for “strengthening and expanding” its carrier base and diversifying its syndicate capital in his new position.

“This is a crucial area for the business and a responsibility that Holmes has both excelled in and relished over the past few years at CFC,” it said.

“As CFC expands its global footprint and grows with new products and services, our executive recognises that the business must be structured to deliver our ambitions.”

Promotion

Holmes joined CFC in 2003, while O’Shea was previously an independent non-executive director at the firm.

Both were promoted after David Walsh and Graeme Newman departed following a Lloyd’s investigation into allegations of non-financial misconduct at the company.

The firm said it acknowledged that there had been failings and was “taking a number of steps to strengthen its policies and procedures and further invest in its culture and people”.

In September 2024, CFC announced it had appointed Kathryn Herrington as its new chief people officer.
