The independent firm has launched a new commercial arm in Perth
Independent commercial broker Brunel Insurance Brokers has confirmed an expansion of its business in Scotland, by appointing James Packer to launch a new commercial arm alongside its existing Perth-based professional indemnity team.
Packer, who has 11 years of industry experience, previously worked as an account handler at Jelf Clark Thomson and as a complex commercial underwriter at Aviva. In his new role, Packer will be acting as account broker.
Packer will launch Brunel Insurance Brokers’s commercial business from the organisation’s Perth office; here, he will provide services to existing local clients that are currently being handled by Southern-based colleagues. He will also look to expand the firm’s Scottish footprint by seeking new growth opportunities.
Widening remit
Established in 2017, following the launch of sister organisation Brunel Professionals, Brunel Insurance Brokers aims to provide a fully independent commercial broking service to businesses of all sizes.
It currently has a well-established presence in Scotland for professional indemnity, however Packer’s appointment signals the first step for the firm to offer a complete commercial proposition from Perth.
Matt Harlin, managing director at Brunel Insurance Brokers, said: “With the substantial growth during the past two years, expanding into Scotland was the next logical step.
“James is a great addition to the team and we look forward to capitalising on the opportunities as an independent broker.”
