Managing director says move is ’bittersweet’, but that the broker is ’looking forward to the next step’

Russell Scanlan has relocated its headquarters in a move that will see it operate outside of Nottingham city centre for the first time in its 143-year history.

Describing the change as “historic”, the broker said it had moved its long-term home from Wellington Circus to Grove House in West Bridgford.

The new office is around at 10-minute drive from Nottingham city centre, which is where the firm was founded in 1881 by Patrick Scanlan.

The broker has now decided to move its base as it looks to expand further.

Mike Dickinson, managing director at the broker, said: “It’s certainly bittersweet for us – we have a long and illustrious history at Wellington Circus, neighbours to our client and business partners at the Nottingham Playhouse.

“But we’re looking forward to the next step in our history, where we can expand our business, our team and our partnerships in a new space designed around our needs.”

Growth

The move comes following a period of growth for the business, with it being acquired by Acrisure in 2022.

Russell Scanlan went onto buy Building and Land Guarantees (BLG) in March 2024 as part of its growth strategy.

Dickinson said: “The business has continued to experience a significant period of growth which, coupled with our partnership with Acrisure UK and recent acquisition of specialist firm BLG, means that this is a great time for us to begin a new chapter in our new West Bridgford home.”
