’We are committed to sharing our knowledge and experience with more brokers as we continue to advance on our strategic path,’ says deputy chief executive

Brokers remain concerned about the availability of specialists or insurers offering capacity for the haulage, waste disposal and courier markets within the commercial motor sector.

That was according to Direct Commercial’s latest Broker Barometer, which showed that a total of 76% of firms have expressed scepticism over accessibility to such capacity.

However, this was lower than 83% figure recorded six months ago, with Direct Commercial saying its latest figures indicate an improved outlook.

“Even amidst reports of capacity issues in the wider motor market in the last few months, concerns over capacity have notably reduced among commercial motor brokers,” the firm said.

A total of 127 UK brokers involved in commercial motor markets took part in the poll, which was carried out during February and May.

Growth

The Broker Barometer also found that 83% of brokers reported growth in business over the past year, up from 75% at Q3 2023, while 93% expect further growth over the coming year.

Joe Hantson, deputy chief executive of Direct Commercial, said: “We are dedicated to making consistent improvements in our work with brokers, aimed at reducing costs and enhancing efficiency.

“It’s gratifying to see brokers report tangible benefits from our efforts. Nevertheless, complexities continue to exist and navigating them requires expertise.

“We are committed to sharing our knowledge and experience with more brokers as we continue to advance on our strategic path.”
