’Having him come on board illustrates how very seriously we view the importance of risk,’ says chief executive
Broadway Insurance Brokers has appointed Gary Ward as its new director of operations, internal audit, risk and compliance, a statement released yesterday (2 August 2023) said.
Ward will join the firm from Bolton-based IC Insurance Solutions, where he spent four years as its compliance officer.
He also currently serves as the deputy chairman of Biba’s Manchester committee.
Broadway chief executive Daniel Lloyd-John said that appointing Ward would send a “strong, clear signal” to clients and industry peers alike about Broadway’s intentions.
“The fact that he is already so well known to our existing staff will certainly help with his integration,” he said.
“More than that, however, he underlines the emphasis which we established when we launched three years ago.
“[This is] not only about providing a different, innovative service to high-net-worth clients, but also adhering to the most rigorous processes in order to do things right on their behalf.
“In that sense, having Ward come on board illustrates how very seriously we view the importance of risk ourselves.”
’Very necessary’
Broadway has hired big insurance hitters since its launch in 2020, including director of private clients Eleanor Moore and director of corporate clients Martin Lilley.

The appointment of Ward came after the firm outlined that the value of assets for which it arranges cover had doubled to more than £2bn in the space of less than 12 months.
Earlier this year (17 May 2023), the business said it came after its decision to focus on high calibre appointments was vindicated by “dramatic growth”.
In turn Lloyd-John said that Ward’s appointment was “very necessary”, given ”the speed with which we have grown and extended our operations from the north west across the UK and even overseas”.
