’We are pleased to now have a hub in Derbyshire for the advantage of our staff and clients based in the north,’ says chief executive
Benefact-owned charity specialist Access Insurance has made its fourth acquisition with the purchase of Ladbrook Insurance.
Ladbrook is a charity broker based in Chesterfield. Access said buying the firm “is a key milestone in our growth strategy over the next five years”.
The Barlborough team will continue to operate as usual and there will be no immediate changes to operations, policies, or pricing as the integration process begins.
Simon Hickman, chief executive and founder at Access, said:“With increasing consumer duty requirements, we are open to further opportunities to acquire books of charity clients that align with our expertise in the third sector.
“We look forward to welcoming the Ladbrook staff and almost 2000 clients into the Access family.
“We are also pleased to now have a hub in Derbyshire for the advantage of our staff and clients based in the north.”
Peple move
As part of the deal, Ladbrook chief executive Tim Larden will take on the role of sales and marketing director at Access. He will also join its board.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He previously worked at Endsleigh Insurance Service, developing its provision of products to third sector organisations and commercial property.
Larden said: “I am pleased that Ladbrook is becoming part of a larger group, which prides itself in educating and advising charities on managing risk.
“I am excited about the additional benefits it will bring to our own client base, as well as jumping into helping Access achieve ambitious growth goals.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
