The hire joins from Markel and owns a consulting company focused on progression
Axa XL has appointed Trevor Gandy as its global head of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Gandy will lead the insurance provider’s DEI strategy and join its HR leadership team as part of the appointment, a statement released today (17 April 2023) said.
Karen le Duc, chief human resources officer at Axa XL, said the move came with the company ”focused on taking tangible and measurable steps towards further building a culture of inclusion and equity”.

Gandy joined the business from Markel, where he most recently served as managing director for talent, diversity and inclusion.

Prior to Markel, the appointee was the principal of diversity and inclusion at Amazon.
He also spent over 20 years at insurer Chubb, where he held several senior positions such as deputy chief culture officer and chief diversity officer.
In addition to serving at the aforementioned firms, Gandy is the owner and president of TréGan Consulting – based in New Jersey.
The business provides professional consulting services in diversity and inclusion and human capital management.
“Trevor’s extensive experience and insight will be invaluable as we engage with senior leaders and our global workforce to continue to embed effective long-term DEI practices across our organisation worldwide,” le Duc added.
