Axa UK has partnered with non-profit organisation, Women in Data, to help increase female representation across data and technology positions within the insurance industry.
The insurer said it was making the move as women were “significantly underrepresented” in such roles.
For example, a report published in September 2020 by Accenture and Girls Who Code – entitled Resetting tech culture: Five strategies to keep women in tech – revealed that the number of women in technology roles had declined over the past 35 years, with around 50% of the women who take on a technology job dropping out by the age of 35.
Cali Wood, head of data culture and capability at Axa UK and Ireland, said: “Our team is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and this partnership is a testament to our commitment.
“This collaboration means we can create more opportunities for women in data roles within the organisation. I’m excited to see the positive impact this partnership will have on our data teams and the insurance industry as a whole.”
Activities
The partnership comes following the closure of non-profit firm Girls in Tech in July 2024.

The new deal will see colleagues at Axa UK be able to take part in activities organised by Women in Data.
This includes lunch and learn webinars and meetings with members from other partner companies. Staff will also have the opportunity to feature in the Women in Data partner spotlight community, which will be posted on Axa UK’s partner page.
Axa UK will also advertise vacancies on the Women in Data jobs board in a bid to attract diverse talent.
