’The team are equipped to help brokers respond to the specific opportunities and challenges of the region,’ says distribution and trading director
Axa Commercial has opened a new Southampton branch, with the aim of strengthening its offering and engagement to regional brokers.
The branch will operate as a trading hub and have an underwriting team focused on both new and existing business across the insurer arm’s product lines, a statement released today (19 April 2023) said.
It added the branch will use data and insight to improve service and customer outcomes, as well as decisions made by underwriters.
Sarah Mallaby, distribution and trading director at Axa Commercial, said: ”The team based in Southampton have a wealth of local market knowledge and are equipped to help brokers respond to the specific opportunities and challenges of the region.”
Strategic focus
This came after Mallaby told Insurance Times earlier this month (April 2023) that Axa UK was targeting broker schemes as “a growth area” in the year ahead.

Mallaby added in a statement today that the insurer was ”proud to have a network of branches across the UK”.
She added: “Delivering the best for our customers sits at the heart of the Axa Commercial business strategy alongside our ambition to help businesses thrive today and tomorrow.
“With the opening of the Southampton branch, we are demonstrating our continued focus on supporting local brokers, so they can in turn support local businesses.”
