’Enhancing our claims services for our broker partners is central to our plans,’ says commercial claims director
Aviva and Acturis have joined forces to launch an application programming interface (API) designed to simplify the claims process for brokers.
Aviva explained that the API enables a one-way transfer of individual claim records and updates from its claims system directly into brokers’ Acturis systems.
This, in turn, minimises the need for brokers to request on-demand claims updates or manually enter data.
The API supports data transfer for all personal and commercial motor, property and liability claims.
Ryan Birbeck, commercial claims director at Aviva, said: “We’re thrilled to introduce this innovative broker API in collaboration with Acturis.
“This underscores our commitment to improving efficiency and responsiveness through streamlining the claims process for brokers.
“Enhancing our claims services for our broker partners is central to our plans, their feedback is crucial so that we continuously improve our propositions.”
How it works
Following the completion of a pilot in November 2024, Aviva will begin rolling out the API to brokers in Q1 2025.

When a claim is created on Aviva’s system, either by a broker or a client, the data is transferred to Acturis, where it is then matched to an existing claim or policy.
A record is then added, giving the broker access to the new claim and any subsequent updates.
Brokers can register their interest by contacting their Aviva claims service manager or Acturis account manager.
James Aston, head of roadmap and partnerships at Acturis, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Aviva to create our new claims download functionality which enables our brokers to deliver faster and more efficient solutions.
“We see this as a huge step forward within the market, and expect to see a movement toward an automated, electronic approach to claim notifications in the future.”
