The insurer’s chair says the appointment is ‘a valuable addition’ to the board
Insurer Aviva has appointed former RSA senior independent director Martin Strobel as its new independent non-executive director, effective from 22 October 2021.
As part of this role, Strobel will also become a member of the insurer’s nomination and governance committee.
Currently, Strobel is vice chair and lead independent director of Partners Group, as well as deputy chair of MSG Life AG.
Over the course of his career, Strobel has held a number of senior insurance roles, including group chief executive of Baloise Group, operating partner at Advent International and a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.
Speaking on the appointment, Aviva’s chair George Culmer said: “Martin is an accomplished director in insurance and private equity and we are delighted to welcome him to the board.
“His business leadership and non-executive experience in the insurance and technology sectors make him a valuable addition to the Aviva board.”
