’It’s a huge honour and responsibility to be asked to lead the UK and Ireland general insurance business,’ says new appointee

Aviva has appointed Jason Storah as the new chief executive of its UK and Ireland general insurance practice, a statement released today (30 August 2023) revealed.

Storah will succeed Adam Winslow, who will leave Aviva to become the top boss of Direct Line Group (DLG) in 2024.

Storah, who has been with Aviva for almost 20 years, is currently the insurer’s Canada chief executive and will replace Winslow once he joins DLG.

“It’s a huge honour and responsibility to be asked to lead the UK and Ireland general insurance business,” Storah said.

“I will miss everyone in Canada, but I know the team and business will continue to go from strength to strength.

“I’m excited to take on this new role and join a fantastic team that works tirelessly to grow our business and support our customers.”

Succession

Aviva also announced that with Storah moving to a new position, Tracy Garrad will become the insurer’s Canada chief executive.

Garrad, who will take up the role later this year (16 October 2023), was most recently the chief executive of Axa’s UK healthcare business and prior to that was the top boss of HSBC’s Channel Islands and Isle of Man arm.

Like Storah, she will report to Aviva group chief executive Amanda Blanc.

“I feel very privileged to be joining Aviva at such an exciting time,” Garrad said.

“I look forward to working with Amanda and meeting the team in Canada and I am relishing the opportunity to join a business so focused on customers.”

Blanc added that both appointments “strengthen the executive management of Aviva”.
