’Our team is now in position,’ says broker distribution director
Aviva has promoted Mark Skillern in a move that marks the “final piece in the strategic accounts senior leadership team”.
The insurer said Skillern is taking on the role of head of broker strategic accounts after joining the business two years ago from Allianz as strategic account manager.
In his new role, Skillern will work with Amy Crouch to lead a team of nine strategic account managers and three strategic solutions managers.
He said: “I am delighted to be appointed into this role.
“I feel honoured to be leading an incredibly talented team and look forward to working closely with our strategic broker partners.”
Broking changes
His appointment comes after Aviva announced in September 2024 that the broker development teams would be brought together with strategic accounts, new business and bid and deal management teams.

Those in strategic accounts manage brokers’ financial and contractual performance and connect them to a range of products Aviva offers.
Aviva said Skillern would also be responsible for “bringing the breadth of its UKGI business to broker partners”.
Michelle Taylor, broker distribution director at the insurer, said: “It’s great to be able to promote internal talent.
“Skillern stood out for his experience and market knowledge and I’m delighted he’s now in role. Aviva is a great place to grow and develop a career, as Skillern’s promotion shows.
“Our team is now in position and we will be reaching out to our strategic broker partners early in the new year to discuss Aviva’s strategic accounts proposition.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
