Aventum has appointed Robert Moorehead-Lane as its new chief risk officer, a statement released today (12 October 2023) said.

The (re)insurance group said the new position was created to help bolster the way it manages risk as it looks to accelerate its growth plans.

Moorehead-Lane will be based in London and have responsibility for ensuring the firm has strong resilience from its risk framework.

“Aventum is a great organisation, with a unique culture, clear ambition for growth and a desire to jump on every opportunity to do things better,” Moorehead-Lane said.

“The chance to lead the risk function at such an exciting time for the group was an opportunity I simply couldn’t resist.

“I look forward to ensuring the delivery of its risk strategy and supporting its pledge to create even more value for the business, its clients and the industry as a whole.”

Experience

Moorehead-Lane, who has 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, was most recently the chief risk officer at Aspen Insurance Group.

He has also held positions at Grant Thornton, Assurant and KPMG, where he built expertise in risk strategy and framework development, strategic transformation, regulatory policy making, solvency and risk-based capital solutions.

David Bearman, chief executive of Aventum, said Moorehead-Lane’s experience “will make a vital contribution to Aventum as we continue our ambitious growth journey”.

“It’s a critical role designed to deliver even more value through the safe and compliant operation of our business,” he added.
